Oklahoma City Thunder won't sign Dion Waiters to contract extension

General manager Sam Presti is not one of the lone inhabitants of "Waiters Island."

As TNT's David Aldridge reports, the Oklahoma City Thunder will not sign shooting guard Dion Waiters prior to Monday's 5 p.m. ET extension deadline for players entering the fourth year of their rookie scale contracts.

The talks between Dion Waiters and the Oklahoma City Thunder towards an extension mid-October have ended.

Presti acquired Waiters in a three-way trade last season involving the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks, in hopes of exploiting his talents, but Waiters remained scarcely inconsistent in 47 appearances for the Thunder.
