Stephen Curry & Chris Paul |
Even after picking up 2 early fouls in the first quarter, All-Star Stephen Curry was his normal self Wednesday night scoring 31 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter that led the defending champion Golden State Warriors to their fifth straight win, leaving off where they left of last year, as they beat the Los Angeles Clippers 112-108.

The Warriors Forward Harrison Barnes came alive during the fourth quarter playing great defense, by getting a key block on Shooting Guard Jamal Crawford and on the offensive end scoring 17 points, 10 consecutive sparking the big run that helped Golden State overcome a 10-point deficit to knock off its most hated rival.Center Festus Ezeli had one of his two blocks of the night on power forward Blake Griffin during the first quarter, also adding 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Most of Ezeli's buckets came from the non-selfish Draymond Green.

Chris Paul scored 24 points and Blake Griffin added 23 for the Clippers, who also had won their first four games of the season to give extra meaning to this early season match-up.

Stephen Curry also added "We are better than we were last year" during his Post game interview. Some may say this is just more luck for the Warriors but at their pace they will repeat! An offseason war of words that has been waged between Clippers coach Doc Rivers and several Warriors about what role luck played in their championship last season only added to the drama. Doc is a firm believer in his team this season, and has no doubt that his Clippers team can beat the Warriors as they did in game 7 during the 2014 playoffs.
The reigning MVP has played a big role. Curry has scored 179 points, the most through five games since Michael Jordan had 182 in 1991-92. Curry alone has also made more 3-pointers this season than 5 teams in the NBA.
