VIDEO: Popovich, Sager heart warming reunion

Gregg Popovich

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich is known for having a disliked attitude toward most of the media, using blunt, sarcastic remarks during sideline and end-of-game interviews.

It's different with TNT reporter Craig Sager, though, who returned to work this season after fighting acute myeloid leukemia. Popovich and Sager have an Abbott and Costello-like bond, with several of their back-and-forths being comedy gold.

Prior to Thursday's game between the Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies, Sager headed to the locker room to have his first meeting with Popovich in quite some time:

Their first in-game interview was just as memorable. They haven't missed a beat:

Golden State Warriors - Harrison Barnes Sprained Ankle

Harrison Barnes

Golden State Warriors' forward Harrison Barnes sprained  his left ankle and missed the remainder of Friday night's 135-116 win over the Phoenix Suns.

Barnes is doubtful for Saturday night;s game against the Sacramento Kings, as the Warriors will look to extend their winning record 17-0 at Oracle Arena.

The injury occurred when Barnes was guarding the Suns forward Markieff Morris when he landed on Morris' foot. The ensuing fall caused Barnes to grab below his knee. He was helped to the locker room by trainers and teammates.

Barnes finished with seven points and seven rebounds on 3-of-5 shooting in 21 minutes of action. On the season, he is averaging 13.4 points per game and five rebounds per game with a player efficiency rating of 16.45.

Jerry West: Draymond Has Become Top-10 Player in NBA

Draymond Green

Jerry West believes Draymond Green has become one of the top-10 players in the NBA.

“We have two of the top-10 players in the league,” West told KNBR on Wednesday, knowing he didn’t need to explain Stephen Curry. “Draymond Green is the second one. He’s the most underrated player in the NBA, period. There are very few players I think anyone in our organization would trade for him. He’s just a remarkable player.

“If he’s not a top-10 player in this league, I don’t know who is.”

Green currently ranks fourth in Basketball Reference's MVP tracker for the current season, averaging 12.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.3 blocks per game.

Chicago Bulls - Rose 'good to go' vs Trailblazers

Derrick Rose
The Chicago Bulls former MVP Derrick Rose will be back in action against the Portland Trailblazers Tuesday night.

Rose has missed two games due to an ankle injury suffered against the Indiana Pacers.

Bulls first year head coach Fred Hoiberg confirmed to reporters early before the game that Rose was "good to go".
Rose has gotten off to an extremely slow start this season, and wearing a mask while recovering from an orbital contusion could certainly explain his drop in efficiency.

He's misfiring badly on his jump shot and he's resorted to exclusively attacking the basket, but he's having trouble finishing as well.

Rose is averaging 13.6 points per game on 37.7 percent shooting from the field and 15 percent from deep. He's being outplayed by backup Aaron Brooks, and the Bulls are 6.6 points per 100 possessions worse when Rose takes the floor.

NBA Sunday Games - Lakers vs Knicks

NBA Sunday
Sunday will have six games played, as the games will include Indiana Pacers (3-3) vs Cleveland Cavaliers (5-1), Los Angeles Lakers (1-4) vs New York Knicks (2-4), Toronto Raptors (5-1) vs Miami Heat (3-3), Phoenix Suns (3-3) vs Oklahoma City Thunder (3-3), and Detroit Pistons (4-1) vs Portland Trailblazers (4-2).

Lakers-Knicks
Kobe Bryant always loved the history at Madison Square Garden, even before he made some of his own.

"I always try to take a look around, always try to kind of embrace the moment and kind of feel the energy a little," Bryant said. "I always try to make it a point to do that. Is it a little different this time around? Yeah."

With the Lakers only visiting the New York Knicks once this season, Sunday afternoon could perhaps be Bryant's last time visiting Madison Square Garden as this will be his his first their in nearly three years. And as it may be Bryant's favorite building performing in more than any other.

He's playing in MSG as well as anybody to. His average of 30.7 points in 15 games is the highest among active players, and his 61 points there on Feb. 2, 2009, remains the record for a visitor.

And when he takes the floor Sunday, the memories of that night, maybe his first All-Star Game in 1998, and others will come rushing back. And just as quickly, Bryant will push them aside again.

"You think about it a little bit, but I block all that stuff out, just go out and play," Bryant said.

The Lakers (1-4) opened a five-game road trip Friday night across the East River in Brooklyn by picking up their first win, 104-98 against the Nets now (0-7). Bryant insisted afterward that if he does play beyond this season, it would be in Los Angeles.

Knicks President Phil Jackson, Bryant's coach on five championship-winning teams, said before the season he didn't believe this would be Bryant's last, but that perhaps it would be his last in purple and gold. Inferring he would want Bryant to play for him in New York.

"How many times do I have to say it?" the 37-year-old said. "I've said it so many times. I'm here, I'm a Laker for life. I'm not playing anywhere else no matter what. It's just not going to happen. I bleed purple and gold, and that's just how it's going to be."

"I really just appreciate the game the way it's been played over the years and I appreciate the competition, so it's like, the biggest sign of respect to me would be to approach it just like it was any other game and try to kick our butt just like it was any other game," he said. "Those are the things that I hold extremely dear."

Knicks fans may want to beat him, but many will cheer him. It's always been that way in New York and that was proven again Friday night in Brooklyn, where he received such loud applause that Los Angeles coach Byron Scott said one Nets player told him it felt like a road game.

"When you talk about New York, they are basketball fans, big time," Scott said. "They love greatness and they're going to show their appreciation. No matter if they don't like you as a team or not, they love great players."

Carmelo Anthony has not performed well in the early going, as he is shooting 36.6 percent from the field during the Knicks 2-4 start after finishing with 17 points and 5 turnovers in Friday's 99-92 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Knicks never led against the Bucks, and they're really struggling behind the arc at MSG. New York is shooting 21.2 percent from 3-point range there, making just 14 of 66 attempts.
Anthony has averaged 32.0 points in three home games against the Lakers in a Knicks uniform, all New York wins.

Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Clippers

Stephen Curry & Chris Paul
This has to be one of the most heated rivalries in the NBA today, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors have absolutely no love for one another when they go to battle against one another!

Even after picking up 2 early fouls in the first quarter, All-Star Stephen Curry was his normal self Wednesday night scoring 31 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter that led the defending champion Golden State Warriors to their fifth straight win, leaving off where they left of last year, as they beat the Los Angeles Clippers 112-108.
The Warriors Forward Harrison Barnes came alive during the fourth quarter playing great defense, by getting a key block on Shooting Guard Jamal Crawford and on the offensive end scoring 17 points, 10 consecutive sparking the big run that helped Golden State overcome a 10-point deficit to knock off its most hated rival.

Center Festus Ezeli had one of his two blocks of the night on power forward Blake Griffin during the first quarter, also adding 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Most of Ezeli's buckets came from the non-selfish Draymond Green.

Chris Paul scored 24 points and Blake Griffin added 23 for the Clippers, who also had won their first four games of the season to give extra meaning to this early season match-up.
Stephen Curry also added "We are better than we were last year" during his Post game interview. Some may say this is just more luck for the Warriors but at their pace they will repeat!
An offseason war of words that has been waged between Clippers coach Doc Rivers and several Warriors about what role luck played in their championship last season only added to the drama. Doc is a firm believer in his team this season, and has no doubt that his Clippers team can beat the Warriors as they did in game 7 during the 2014 playoffs.

The reigning MVP has played a big role. Curry has scored 179 points, the most through five games since Michael Jordan had 182 in 1991-92. Curry alone has also made more 3-pointers this season than 5 teams in the NBA.

Golden State Warriors - Champs not looking back

Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors have stormed out of the gates this season, starting off where they left off from last season winning the NBA Championship.

Don't expect a championship hangover from Golden State, they successfully beat Anthony Davis and the  New Orleans Pelicans twice to start off the new season, both by double digits. As well as taking care of the MVP runner up James Harden and his Houston Rockets by 20 points. The Warriors are showing no mercy to any opponents.

Reigning MVP Stephen Curry is not giving any breathing air to other players in the league to take is MVP trophy as he records his 3rd 20+ point quarter of the year as the Warriors beat the Grizzlies 119-69, improving to 4-0.
